Are Your Valentine’s Day Flowers Eco-Friendly? Flowers are all about the experience. Perhaps no other gift engages your senses like a flower delivery. Part of this experience, is enjoying the scent and the joyful act of arranging the flowers in a vase. Here on the farm, we love to get up close and personal with our flowers. For that reason we’ve dedicated our business to making sure that our flowers are as safe, sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. Our farm has gone through a rigorous certification process by the Rainforest Alliance, which you may be familiar with from buying coffee and bananas, or other tropically sourced food. Ironically our farm, located among the redwoods of Humboldt County, is in a temperate rainforest. So the certification is rather apropos, and the frogs love it here as well! We want you and your love ones to enjoy your flower delivery to the fullest, and a big part of this is knowing that the flowers were grown in a sustainable manner, in harmon
What the Heck Is Galentine’s Day? Fans of the TV show, Parks & Recreation have been celebrating (or at least have known about) Galentine’s Day for years. The holiday first came to be during an episode in 2010, when the show’s heroine, Leslie Knope proclaims February 13, a day for celebrating the joys of female friendship. As Leslie explained the holiday: “Every February 13, my ladyfriends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.” Galentine’s Day may have been born out of fiction but it resonates with many real-life women. Unlike Valentine’s Day, which is a holiday designed for couples to profess their love for one another with chocolates and fancy flowers, Galentine’s Day is for women to embrace the platonic love they have for one another—preferably over brunch. The day is not a bash on the lover’s holiday. It is a celebrat
Wine and Flower Delivery Nearly every day we get a call asking if we offer a wine and flower delivery. Let’s save you a phone call, the answer is yes! Stargazer Barn is unique in the online world, as we are literally a flower farm and a vineyard. This allows us to offer a wine and flower delivery in a many different options and configurations… all of them awesome! There are many similarities between growing flowers and grapes. They need the proper climate and conditions, and a skilled grower. Wine and flowers also build deep connections with the people who enjoy them. Most everyone has a favorite flower, and most folks who enjoy wine have a favorite varietal. And of course, they are not shy about explaining why their favorite should be your favorite. Ever have a tulip freak and a lily freak debate the merits of their chosen bloom? Working on a flower farm, this sort of conversation happens more often that you might think. How about wine connoisseurs talking about grape varieti
Friendship Day with Rosé Friendship Day is a day to celebrate that beautiful, special bond between friends, and it happens on the first Sunday of August all over the world. This year, its August 6th. Friendship day may have been posited by the greeting card industry, but it was actually the US Congress in 1935 who proclaimed the first Sunday of August National Friendship Day. Keep in mind, at this time the world was nearing yet another World War–mistrust and resentment hung in the air. A National Friendship Day–while it couldn’t prevent a world war–could serve to uplift the American people, and help them focus on camaraderie within. National Friendship Day eventually developed into International Friendship Day, and now, all over the world, individuals focus on honoring their bonds with one another. Traditional celebrations include spending the day with your friend or sending cards, flowers, and gifts to friends far away. If you’re wondering how to celebrate this day
How Do You Take Care of Your Customers? Every day should be customer appreciation day It really should. Having appreciation for your customers is only the first step, though. This may seem like a daunting or even impossible challenge, but here at the Barn, we have plenty of ways to achieve this. The gift you give says a great deal to the recipient about your esteem for them. The beauty and elegance of hand-picked and arranged fresh-cut flowers, delivered with the charm of a French Bucket Style vase, can be matched with the locally grown and bottled varietal wines from our farm’s vineyard. Savoring wine on the palate and a floral arrangement’s palette can be a synergistic experience that leaves your customer with an enduring sense of your appreciation. The wines we offer are made using small-batch production and fill the f

Earth Day officially began in 1970, when 22 million Americans came together to raise awareness about the importance of clean land, air, and water, which eventually led to the creation of the US EPA and the passage of the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. Now, nearly 200 countries will join in celebrating our earth, with the aim to protect and preserve it to the best of our abilities. Earth Day Flowers The most common symbols used for Earth Day are trees and flowers symbolizing the continued growth of a healthy environment. Recently, there has been a rising trend of using iris bouquets as quintessential Earth Day Flowers, which here at the Barn we see as a fitting symbol of a Blue Planet.
